IRAQ - 6/15/2014

Sunni fighters for an Islamic Iraq-Syrian religious caliphate State (ISIL)
took control ol Iraq's second largest city, MOSUL on June10th.  They contol
Anbar Province to the North-West of Baghdad including the cities
of Ramadi and Fallujah.   ISIL is led by
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi

ISIL today boasted that they executed 1700 Shiite Iraqi government
soldiers.  If true, the Iraq Civil war is turning "genocidal".

This week they took control of TIKRIT and are now fighting for
biggest oil refinery in Baiji, located between Mosul and Tikrit.
The Baiji refinery can process 300,000 barrels per day and supplies
oil products to most of Iraq's provinces and is a major provider of
power to Baghdad.   Presently, the Government is still in control of it.
ISIL's assault has stalled about 60 miles north of the capital.

Baghdad and oil rich Southern Iraq are still controlled
by a Shiite dominated political bloc and the al-Maliki Iraq
Government.  60% of Iraq's oil is in South.  Iraq is OPEC's
            second biggest crude oil producer.

The Obama Government has said "ISIL is not only a threat to the
stability of Iraq, but a threat to the entire region."  Obama is
considering air strikes and other military aid.
