  NRA Still Shows No Shame

"The right to bear arms is the right only
                          to bear 19th century muskets.
".
Greed clouds the thinking of strict constructionists.

By their "logic", we should all be allowed to buy machine guns,
           anti-tank bazooka and stimger missiles.

                      The Second-Amendment should actually read:
           "
A Well Regulated SLAVERY-ENFORCING Militia Being Necessary to the Security"
of the slaveholding states..." (Thom Hartmann)

          Sociopaths Should Not Get Guns

              NRA-SPONSORED TERRORISM continues, continues, continues
                                  and CONTINUES!

How Many More Innocent Americans Will Be Killed by Guns?

For Amerca to be safe, the NRA must be banned as a terrorist organization.  That's exactly
what it is.  The right to "bear arms" is the right only to bear 19th century muskets. People
in 1787 when the Constitution was written were referring to muskets not hand-held
machine guns.  It is the gun lobby and NRA that say that a hand-held machine gun is an "arm".
It is not.  It is a lethal device to "mow down", kill and maim a crowd of people.  The
plantation and slave owning Founding Fathers never would have allowed just anyone
to have such a killing machine.  They did not trust the masses.  Why would they want
           them to have such weapons?

wpe42C3.jpg (29903 bytes) vs wpe42C6.jpg (12476 bytes)

Most gun owners are probably not sociopaths like the NRA.  But the NRA clearly is.
They are indifferent to the tragedies and suffering they cause.  The express no
shame or regret.  They are remorseless.  Like sociopaths, they easily manipulate
he slower-thinking by creating Fear.  They make these poor folks actually believe that
they are safer with a gun, not mentioning that the very pervasiveness of guns makes
everyone in America, including gun-owners, much less safe.  Residents in “red states”
with the highest rates of gun ownership (such as Louisiana and Alabama) are more than
twice as likely to be shot and killed than those in the states with the lowest rates of gun
ownership (such as Massachusetts and New Jersey).

Do not be decived by the NRA's phoney words of sympathy to the victims' families after
each new  mass shooting.   They do not really care about the innocent lives their semi-automatic
and assault weapons' killers take.  The NRA does not change.  Incredibly, their only answer is
"more guns".     Arm every teacher.  Let everyone pack a pistol.

It is the NRA that makes these killing devices readily available and fashionable
among right-wing cultists.    The killers are armed because of the NRA' power and influence.
The NRA is so entrenched now and so much a part of the American culture of violence,
they ride out each new wave of recriminations against them.  They have learned how to survive
and thrive, just like any smart sociopath.    Always, after each new mass killing, they say
"let's all wait".    Only after an "appropriate" amount of time, they aver, should law makers
consider what new legal steps might be taken to prevent the few really crazed individuals who
do these things from getting the most lethal guns.

But NRA spokesmen are totally disingenuous.  The time never comes.  They do not want it to.
They dominate rural Congressmen.  They especially dominate the Senate, where rural
Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana have more Senators combined
than the mostly urban states of California, New York and Pennsylvania.   They know
how to pay off the right Senators and threaten others.  And it doesn't take that many Senators.
60 votes are now needed to pass any legislation in the Senate.  And even if Congress were
to ban assualt weapons, the NRA's battle would not be over.  It controls five of the
current nine Supreme Court members.  It was the NRA which got the Supreme Court in
2007 to over-turn laws banning hand guns in Chicago and Washington DC.

THE LEGAL ROOT OF THE PROBLEM

The US consititution's 2nd Amendment says:
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state,
the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

It's clear.  The US Constitution says all Americans can arm themselves as much as they
want and the government cannot stop them.

What paranoia!  What Nonsense! How exactly is a bunch of citizens going to compete
with the fire-power of a modern army?  Where is the invading force going to come from?
If "security" is the aim, how does letting each citizen have a machine gun help?   How
safe is a person when people can shoot from the hip anyone who raises an eyebrow?
And where does this domestic arms race end?  Hair triggers.  Distance targeting.
10,000 shots a minute? Automatic targeting?   We know it's hugely profitable to
the gun-makers and the "security" camera industry, but how much security does this bring
to a little child in school or you or me in a movie theater?

Times change but the US Constitution seldom can be.   In 1791, when the Constitution
was ratified, they only had muskets.  These were heavy and took 15 seconds to reload for
each new shot.   Semi-automatics now fire 60 rounds per minute.  Fully automatics now
fire at a rate of 100 per minute.  The US Constitution is a killer.

ELITIST SLAVE OWNERS WROTE THE CONSTITUTION

Perhaps, the main reason for this foolish, rigidly written "right to bear arms" amendment
was that the wealthy plantation owners wanted  always to have enough guns to keep their slaves
obedient and submissive.    This provision served to get the necessary votes for the new Constitution
from Southern plantation owners.   An English critic of American hyprocrisy then wrote:
"How is it that we hear the loudest yelps for liberty from the drivers of Negroes?"

The reference to "militias" actually designed to protect slave-shooting Southern
militia in nearly half-Black South Caolina and Viginia.  The big slave-owners needed
a slavery-enforcing   militia to suppress and intimidate their slaves.

              "
James Madison wrote the Second Amendment to assure the southern states that Congress
would not undermine the slave system by disarming the militia, which were then the principal
instruments of slave control throughout the South."

For more details of the hidden history of the 1nd amendment, please see
                                         http://www.vpc.org/fact_sht/hidhist.htm

"The "hidden history" of the Second Amendment is important for two reasons.
First, it supports the view that the amendment does not grant individuals a right to keep and bear arms
for their own purposes; rather it only protects the right to bear arms within the militia, as defined within
the main body of the Constitution, under the joint control of the federal and state governments.
At the time, the southern states extensively regulated their militias and prescribed their slave control
responsibilities. Second, the hidden history is important because it fundamentally changes how we
think about the right to keep and bear arms. The Second Amendment takes on an entirely different
complexion when instead of being symbolized by a musket in the hands of the minutemen,
it is associated with a musket in the hands of the slave holder."

In writing and passing this frightening provision in the US Constitution, what else could
have caused the Founding Fathers to make such huge mistake.  It is said that the
Founding Fathers lived in what they thought was the age of Enlightenment.   Perhaps,
some thought all men were reasonable and responsible.  This might be said to apply
to Franklin and Jefferson, but certainly not Madison or the Federalists, like Hamilton,
Washington and Adams.    They actively distrusted the "rabble" and their Black slaves.

It is also apparent   that many of the Founding Fathers, like Madison, Washington and
Mason were affluent land owners.  They could not begin to appreciate the pressures
of crowded urban areas.   At first,  they wanted only property owners to vote.   What could
they known of high urban unemployment and economic insecurity in an atomized society?
In their times, there was always the Western frontier for an unhappy and angry young man.

Of course, the Constitution should be changed.  It is not sacrosanct.  It is now outdated.
It reflects the times and the values and interests of those who wrote it.  They were the
plutocrats of the time.    As a result, it is decidely anti-democratic.  In it, the Founding
Fathers did not consider slaves to be human beings.  Women could not be trusted with the
vote.  The President was not to be elected directly by the People.  A Senate was created
to give rural areas disproportionate representation.  And the Senators would only be
subject to recall by election every six years.  Political grid-lock in Washington was
deliberately designed by anti-democratic US Constitution makers and elitists.  Read
the Federalist Paper #10.    Madison designed the separation of powers mainly to protect
the rich from the poor.    Democracies, he says, "have ever been spectacles of turbulence
and contention, have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property
and have, in general, been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths."

In this way, landowners and banking Elites can prevent "an abolition of debts, the equal
distribution of property or any other improper or wicked project..."

James Madison grew up on a Virginia tobacco plantation, called Mount Pleasant.  What
he inherited became the largest plantation in his county.   Madison owned many slaves
all his life.  The hard work of the plantation was done by his slaves.  He lived off them.
In this he was not alone among the Founding Fathers.  George Washington had more than
200 slaves.  Jefferson had 100 and James Monroe 30-40.
So, why do we entrust our own future,
our America, to what slave owner's wanted 200 years ago?  The only reason, of course, is
Propaganda.  It serves the interests of the Power Elite now to preserve the status quo?

So, will the killing of 21 first graders by an semi-automatic gun in the hand of a crazy-man
make a difference and bring real gun control?  Don't bet on it.  These NRA gun-people
are evil and they are rich.    They have never lost in plutocracy-dominated Washington D.C.
Not unless the Constitution itself is changed.  And the rich will not let that happen.

                                                                ONLY IN AMERICA

You are 45 times more likely to be shot and killed by a gun in the US than in the UK.

Gun violence kills roughly 30,000 people each year, second only to automobile crashes
              in causes of death.
According to a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) study, nonfatal gun injuries
and gun-related deaths cost the United States $5.6 billion in medical spending every year, and an
additional $64.6 billion when accounting for the lost productivity that stems from gun-related violence/

The United Kingdom where guns are tightly controlled had a 0.07 per 100,000 peeple rate of
intentional homicides committed with a firearm per 100,000 inhabitants in 2009 compared
to the United States' rate of 3.0 and to Germany's 0.21. (Source)

Gun Violence is as Amercian as Apple Pie.  It's big money.  It's big business.  It's very
profitable.    It's the 1/2 Trillion Dollar US Military.  Its the Massive Security Business.
It's Hollywood and TV and Video Games.  It's the Gun Lobby.  It is America.  It dominates
American culture.    Presidents are regularly assassinated, too. President Obama is probably
too timid to do anything.  But we'll see.  In a society that does not provide jobs and economic
security or psychiatric care for tens of millions.  You can be sure that people "crack" under
the pressure.    And when they do, the innocent are the victims.  Not the plutocrats
like the Koch brothers that exploit Fear caused by the pervasive Culture of Violence.

                                                    NRA Is In Decline

The good news now is that millions of Americans now agree that that the NRA
has become a terrorist organization.  In 1912, the NRA spent $13 billion to defeat
Obama.    They failed miserably.  They spent $100,000 in 8 Senate campaigns and
lost every one of them.  17 House Incumbents endorsed by the NRA lost.
